Amazing Sushi... the best Sushi IMHO (In My Honest Opinion) in all of Ottawa!It's a cozy small restaurant but very clean and has a nice ambiance!The chef's choice is amazing (as you can see from the pictures) and the food is impeccable and super fresh!It's a bit on the pricey side but worth every dollar!Enjoy since I sure did...

A minor issue with one item ordered which was quickly corrected - overall the food was amazing, service was excellent and options were creative and high quality. Bill was $130 for 5 of us and we were full. I would highly recommend this sushi restaurant but definitely make a reservation as the seating is limited. We will be back!

Sushi rolls are amazingly tasty, savory, and will have you asking for me. Sashimi is so fresh, soft, excellent texture. Each platter well presented. Service was very timely. Our server was very amiable.

The food was good, but service was totally NOT OK! Server just gave us a cup of water and never came back .Although food was good, never come back for the service.

Service was friendly, and our drinks were always full.Food was great and came out quickly.This was extra impressive, considering our reservation was at 6pm and the restaurant was full.Limited beer selection made up for by seasonal tap in my opinion.Great experience overall!

Probably one of the best sushi places in Ottawa but I think they are a tiny bit overpriced. But would definitely go back here.

Went to dinner for my wife’s birthday and it was such an excellent experience. Chef’s Role is a must have for sushi lovers! All the food excellent, staff was super accommodating and friendly, and ambiance was stellar for a date night. We will certainly be back to enjoy some great sushi!

This place was very accommodating. they had a nice sized menu not overly bearing but the food that they did was really well done. as a vegan it is sometimes hard to find a sushi place that you would be able to eat at when your friends want to go out. This place gave me a bunch of vegetarian / vegan options and they taste amazing.

I would come back here in the near future , the atmosphere was great as well as they had a friendly staff. Our orders were organized, The sushi was good. I recommend to others.

Cosy sushi place in the downtown. Nice ambiance, friendly service. The food was amazing. This is the best sushi we've eaten in Ottawa. Check out some of the specially rolls. We also had blue fun tuna which was amazing.

I cannot believe the high rating from this restaurant. Too bad no way to give 0 star. I bought a $80 sushi tray on mother's day and the stuffs inside is gross. There is supposed to be sashimi but there is none. As a matter of fact, only 4 pieces out of 48 have fish. You can see the picture there. The other rolls are mostly left over tempura, dried lettuce and fake crab meat. The avocado roll is basically avocado wrapped with rice. It is gross. I know Japanese food in Ottawa is way sub-standard with high price tag. But this restaurant is a few levels above gross. I uploaded the picture of that so called sushi/sashimi tray. By the way, those pictures in google are probably uploaded by themselves. They don't exist.

Went to celebrate a birthday on a saturday night, it was quiet busy already. I recommend doing a reservation before going. Food was delicious, very fresh and presentation was incredible . Service was great . I just loved everything! They have vegan and vegetarian options, that it’s just amazing.

One of Ottawa's best à la carte sushi restaurants. My husband and I dined in and enjoyed (but overate) seaweed salads, sashimi and 4 sets of rolls for about $77. We were both left happy and satisfied.

I found the menu to be a bit limited! However, the place was really nice. Customer service was great! The Miso soup was excellent! Sushi was fresh! Would recommend it if you're looking for something small, quiet and intimate.

Seemed a bit expensive...until I started eating and worth every cent. Just amazing sushi, I can say I haven't had better than here. However....there was one piece I just could not chew through for the life of me. But even still. Absurdly good food. ...forgot to take a before pic because it looked so nice I just started in on it. But here is what I got. I will be back when I need a good treat! Also, I ordered and got it to go, so I was able to watch the chef at work and he took such care into what he was doing. Next time I'll dine in.

Small restaurant on Laurier offering sashimi, rolls, and other japanese tapas. Average prices for à la carte sushi. We also ordered the 30 piece sashimi, chef’s which was really tasty. The downside was that it took over an hour for the food to arrive, and our server did not pay us any attention except when he took our order and brought our food.

Great staff, always polite and will go out of there ways to satisfy you.Food: 10/5 , the chef created new dish for us! It was an amazing experience.

The rainbow roll is amazing and highly recommended, all the fish here is fresh and well processed. The sashimi is also fresh and delicious. I will absolutely come visit again.

Visiting for a conference, found this gem and was not disappointed! Amazing sushi and great interaction with staff, especially Andre. The torched salmon belly nigiri he brought us at the end was absolutely to die for. Highly recommended!

I went to this quaint little spot for a daddy/daughter lunch date and it was really nice. My 6 yr old is really in love with sushi right now so this was all about her take. The ambiance was nice for a small restaurant, staff was very friendly and service was excellent. The food was delicious and well prepared.

There are only two top sushi places in Ottawa and Shinka is one of them.Assortments are fresh and delicious. Whether I order a takeout or dine in I am never disappointed with the food. The service is okay and the space is small but nice.The washroom is clean.The place is not accessible for persons of disability in a wheelchair or baby strollers.

Amazing! This will definitely be our new go-to in the Ottawa area when we’re there in the summertime. Sitting at the bar is a must both for the enjoyment of watching your dinner be prepared with painstaking attention to detail and for being better able to discuss options from the menu that you may not have considered otherwise with the chef and wait-staff. The chef is very attentive and open to your preferences and feedback. Hotatate on shiso leaf and the salmon and tuna carpaccio are house specials we’ll be back for. Call from your car when you get there so they can open the gate to their private parking for you. Awesome central location for visitors or if you’re there on business, or if you just like to stroll around afterwards and people-watch.

Went for dinner there with my mom, we ordered the 15 pieces sashimi chef's choices ($40). As well as some other specials forgot the name but they came to $9 a piece. The waiter was super knowledgeable and very helpful. Service was quick and friendly. Food was flavorful but got boring fairly quickly. Parking was a bit of an encumbrance as they had to open and close the gate themselves.Overall a good first experience but wouldn't go back twice.

Let me start with the food was actually quite good, it's fresh and have some interesting twist and do venture a bit of the beaten path.But our experience is terrible. We are traveling with a little kid, which means we are on tight schedule, kid need to be fed and put to bed on her schedule else shes gonna fuss and no one wants that.We came in for lunch special right when the shop opens, we are the first table, and food didnt come to us until 40mins later. Turns out the guy who sit at front and chatting with a "social Media expert" is the owner and chef. When he done chatting and start cooking, our food did come out in reasonable amount of time. But it's 40 pass 12 at this point.The fact you value shameless advertisement over customer says it all. Have fun with you social media campaign.

Amazing quality ingredients. Best sushi I've had in Ottawa hands down. It's definitely my go to place if I'm craving some good sushi.

Shinka is by far the best Sushi Bar in Ottawa. The food is simply spectacular. John, the Chef/Owner (should I say artist) cooked for us some incredible combination of fresh fish that had us go WOW at every bite. I've been there a dozen time now and the quality of the food, the experience and the service is always bar none. My highest recommendation! Just take the time to make a reservation if you're thinking of going for diner... as you can imagine, it's full!!! Enjoy!

Absolutely amazing! I went with a group of friends and they were so kind to move tables and accommodate our group. Price is fantastic, food is amazing, servers are so attentive and kind and respectfulof dietary restrictions. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Definitely going back!Lots of vegetarian options, I think some are even vegan, and all the food is spectacular.

Awesome menu and staff at this hidden gem. The sushi Chef was very well versed in the different types of, and techniques for sushi preparation. I was even gifted with a taste of the wagyu they had on hand since they had run out of my favorite nigiri type. I'll definitely be returning when next I'm in Ottawa!

We got the spicy scallop roll and tsunami roll. Both were so delicious and fresh. Plenty of fresh ingredients and nothing that was overpowering the fresh seafood.We got the 15 piece sashimi platter ($40) which came with the chef's choice of fish, which includes fresh sashimi from Toyosu Japan (shipment comes in every Thursday!). We got to try chutoro and otoro which were phenomenal. Plus we got 21 pieces so it was even more worth.There's a good attention to detail here that you can see from their plating. Service was also lovely. You definitely need to make a reservation to dine in.

Shinka sushi bar has great food, great service, and it’s an over all amazing experience. The best seat in the house is, by far, at the bar. Executive chef, John, pretty much gives you a performance with his enthusiasm and unique artistic flair, making each dish special and one of a kind. And server, Jole, presented each dish with a poetic description that you could almost taste before the first bite. A must visit if you are ever in Ottawa.

Consistently good sushi, excellent presentation and they even stayed open past close to accommodate us.
